We are currently looking to fill the following position based out of our Montreal office:

Systems Monitoring Engineer

The Application Systems and Infrastructure Monitoring Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of monitoring tools necessary to ensure the availability of the Oceanwide cloud platforms.  This role will require you to build and enhance our existing monitoring capabilities.  It involves working closely with the development and operation teams to build scalable and reliable monitoring solutions able to integrate infrastructure and application performance monitoring (APM).

What you’ll be doing:

  • Implement monitoring solutions capable of satisfying the monitoring needs of our cloud platforms
  • Understand application functionality deep enough to setup alerts relevant to monitoring the application and associated systems
  • Work with the operations and development teams to handle and resolve alerts
  • Implementation and maintenance of various dashboards displayed in the NOC reporting the current status of our cloud
  • Provide reports based on application system and cloud platform availability
  • Lead the implementation of various APM projects requiring the collaboration of development & operations teams
  • Participate in the troubleshooting of complex availability issues across platforms, technologies and environments
  • Day-to-day management of distributed monitoring software and supporting systems
  • Work with the Configuration Management team to integrate the configuration of the monitoring solution into a continuous deployment pipeline
  • Work with the Quality Assurance teams to integrate the execution of tests with the data reported by various monitoring tools during the time of execution
  • Stay up to date with industry trends by participating in conferences, training and trade shows focused on cloud platform monitoring

What you’ll need:

  • University Degree or equivalent relevant development/operations experience
  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience working in a similar monitoring role working in an agile environment
  • Experience monitoring VMware infrastructure
  • Experience monitoring physical and virtual network devices (Firewalls, Load balancer, IDS\IDP\WAF, network switches)
  • Experience working with an APM tool (AppDynamics, HP BPM)
  • Experience working with an IT monitoring tool (Nagios, Solarwinds)
  • Experience with .Net applications & Windows based environments
  • Experience with SAAS based services using IIS
  • Excellent analytic skills for problems that span multiple domains
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Attention to detail and can work independently
  • Strong communication skills (written & oral)
